It’s been 24 years since we started our business Not Just Concrete. When we first started out, we had no idea about running a business, we just knew we wanted to have a go at doing it for ourselves. It was a big risk for people with young families, but we’ve been so lucky to have had awesome partners along the way who have helped make the journey a great one.

NBS has been one of those partners.

NBS were not our banking services provider from the outset, but after a few let downs from big banks, we took our good friend Tony Cadigan’s advice and moved our business and personal banking requirements across to NBS. We have honestly never looked back. Changing to NBS was a godsend really.

Working with NBS has been a revelation. The ease and pace with which they make things happen for us is incredible.

What stands out for me is the team’s willingness to go above and beyond for us. They are prompt and every time we walk in with a question, we walk out of the branch with an answer.

What it comes down to is the NBS people are simply good people. They have a genuine desire to get to know you, they ask after your family, they are interested and they make you feel included, like we are part of them. You don’t see that everywhere.

What you do see everywhere is their positive mark on the community. They are at the forefront of making Nelson a better place for people. From the rescue helicopter to the hospice and of course, their support of the Nelson Giants, that NBS support is everywhere.

To us, banking for life is having a banking service provider that gives you no reason to change. Over the course of your life, you never know what is going to pop up, but having NBS there to look after you – that's what it’s all about. Our children, Tom and Lucy are also NBS clients. They were both with different banks for a start when they were at university, but after we spoke so highly of NBS and how much we enjoyed banking with them, they moved to NBS too.

Tom is also an NBS Nelson Giant, and sees first hand the massive amount of finance they put back into the community on a regular basis.

We love going into the branch to visit. The team behind the counter are a hoot. They are all easy, friendly and warm.

NBS is Nelson. It’s the local. There is a sense of pride and trust that comes along with being an NBS client because they make you feel like you are part of something bigger. It’s been an incredible journey with NBS and we are very happy we made that change.
