FAQs
You may get a partial match or no match if the name you entered doesn't exactly match the account name held by the bank. This can happen if you use a nickname, initials, a shortened first name or a business trading name instead of the business name.
Use the first name(s) and last name or business name for the payee name.
If the name on your invoice, email or payment instructions are different from your account name, the person paying you may see a partial match or no match and this may delay the payment whilst they check.
If you have a joint account, you only need to include the name of one of the account holders for the account name.
Use your business name. Use the copy icon within internet banking or the mobile banking app to copy and share the correct account name and number. If the name on your invoice, email or payment instructions is different from these details, the person paying you may see a partial match or no match and this may delay payment while they check.
Use the copy icon within internet banking or the mobile banking app to share your correct account name and number. If you have a joint account, you can enter just one of your names for payment matching. If you’re not sure what to share, contact us and we can help.
Stop and check the details carefully. Triple check the account number and the name you entered. If the account number was shared by text, email or on paper, contact the person or business directly, using a trusted phone number or contact method to confirm the details before you pay.
No. A match does not guarantee that a payment is safe. You should still take care, especially if you’re being pressured to pay quickly or something feels unusual.
Sometimes a check may not be possible because of a temporary issue or because the other person’s bank or provider does not support payment matching.
Yes. Small differences can affect the result. Use the correct account details by selecting the copy icon within internet banking or the mobile banking app and share with the person who is paying you.
