After being let down at the eleventh hour by a verbal handshake with another bank, we were left feeling disappointed and unsure where to go next. That’s when someone we know mentioned NBS and recommended we approach them for help getting this over the line.

Westimber has been in our family for over 60 years. As a young person, the operation felt far too big to buy into, but perseverance and opportunity eventually made ownership possible. The journey to get it financed had many hurdles but, in the end, it was with NBS that we made it all happen.

To us, being able to pick up the phone and speak directly with someone who can help us quickly with no hoop-jumping is crucial. With other big banking institutions, it always feels like you get a bit lost, like you are just a number on a page. But NBS is so approachable and easy to contact, it is such a different feeling.   

That’s important in a small town. You can see that the NBS staff make a real effort to get to know who you are and that’s why I always look forward to going in. I always have a bit of a laugh with the team behind the desk and I always feel welcome.

They are a big part of our small community.  

 

I have a sense of pride being a part of that team. Especially because of the things they do for our community. Even the small things aren’t a problem to help with. They recently sponsored the local rugby league team’s after-match clothing, so they are keeping us looking smart. It’s that grass-roots level support that I notice. 

I can relate to that sense of legacy NBS holds. Our business has been going for many years too and I know that they will continue to leave a great legacy in our region.  

I feel really comfortable with NBS. I see them as a safe pair of hands. We’ve gone through a lot with NBS by our side, like during the COVID-19 times and after a fire went through our factory – Karen was on the phone offering support the very next day. It’s about loyalty with NBS, it’s looking after the people who looked after you. That’s what banking for life means to me.
