No, in order to use Lifestyle Net you just need to be running an up to date browser. Microsoft Internet Browsers or Mozilla Firefox 3+ (or higher) are compatible for PC users. Macintosh users can use Safari or Mozilla Firefox 3+ (or higher).
You can use Lifestyle Net from anywhere in the world once you are a registered user.
Yes, we can link your business accounts to your personal accounts so that you can view them all through Lifestyle Net.
There maybe situations where you need a separate user number and password for your business accounts. Please talk to your Personal Banker to determine the best way to set-up your business accounts on Lifestyle Net.
Simply phone 0800 101 700. A customer service officer will ask you some security questions and then provide you with a temporary password and reset your keep safe questions to give you access to your accounts.
You can stop the mailing for any NBS account.
If you have investments or own a small business and require statements for tax purposes, you will either need to continue to receive mailed paper statements, or stop statements, but order duplicates when required (duplicate statements will incur a fee of $2.00 per page).
NBS provides a secure system within which you can carry out your banking transactions via the internet. However you also need to take responsibility for protecting your own personal information and your accounts once you are registered for and using Lifestyle Net.

Yes. You can either make one off payments (Bill Pay Anyone), or make regular Bill Payments and Automatic payments.
Prior to making a Payment, you will need to set up a person or company as a Bill Payment Payee and this can be done via Lifestyle Net or through your local NBS branch.
You can make Automatic Payments to any Payee (organisation or person) currently loaded against your NBS account. For example, you may want to set up rent payments, or, rates and insurance payments (payments can be made to any bank account in New Zealand). All you need to do this within Lifestyle Net is the Payee's account number and name.
New Payees must be set up in advance. This can be done by selecting "Load New Bill Payee" within Lifestyle Net and then following the steps, (or through your local NBS branch). You can set up a Public Payee (such as telephone companies, district/city councils, power companies), but please ensure you have a recent invoice from the Payee handy. A search feature is included on the set up screen to help you select the Public payee(s) you wish to load. You can also set up Personal Payees for all your other regular expenses. All you need is the account number and name of the person/company you wish to pay.
Once the Payee has been set up, you can choose which account you wish to make the payment from, the amount you wish to pay and when you want to pay.
The Bank field required 2 digits and the Branch field requires 4 digits. On come deposit slips, the bank and branch number is combined to form a six digit number. The account field requires 7 digits, and the suffix requires 2 digits.

The Particulars, Code and Reference fields allow you to enter information that you want to appear on your statement and/or your Payee's statement, as a reference to the transaction. These fields are "free format" and you can enter any information you like (subject to character space).
However some companies may ask you to enter specific information in these fields for their statement (e.g. an invoice number, customer number etc.). For automatic payments follow the instructions on the Automatic Payment form provided by the Payee.
Public bill payments allow you to select from a directory of companies. For example: Telephone accounts, Rate accounts, Power accounts, etc.
Personal bill payments allow you to set up payments to people who you want to pay regularly.
For Example: Doctors, cleaners, personal accounts held at another bank, etc.
Your account manager will set all of the bill payees etc to one client number. This unique number will be used for the primary user.
Additional unique client numbers will be set up for the authorising signatories. This is to ensure no cross references are made with your personal banking.
Lifestyle Net offers a fast and convenient way of making multiple payments via internet banking know as Bulk Payments.

Lifestyle Net sessions require a User number and password to be entered along with answering one of your "KeepSafe" questions. It is important to safeguard this information to prevent unauthorised use and access to Lifestyle Net by other people.
We strongly recommend that you safeguard your online personal and account information with an up to date security system software and operating system updates to ensure that your online transactions vis Lifestyle Net are protected.
Lifestyle Net has an automatic log out function if you don't transact for 10 minutes. This means if you forget to log out, someone is less likely to be able to access your information.
Keep Safe is a question and answer based tool that provides an extra level of security above that provided by your Lifestyle Net password.
When you sign in for the first time
When you first sign in to Lifestyle Net, you will be asked to create three Keep Safe questions and answers. You can either choose from a series of preset questions and provide your own answers, or you can make up questions of your own.

Each time you sign in to Lifestyle Net you will be asked to provide the answer to one of your Keep Safe questions.
How to complete a Keep Safe answer
Your Keep Safe answer is shown as a series of empty boxes, two of which will be highlighted.
You simply need to fill in the two highlighted boxes with the correct characters.
For example, if your Keep Safe question is ‘Favourite sports team’ and the answer is ‘MAKOS’, in the example below the characters you need to fill in are the ‘A’ and then ‘O’.
Rather than typing the characters in from your keyboard, you need to use your mouse to click on the character you want to insert in the highlighted boxes, using the letters or numbers on the screen.
Once you have entered both characters, click ‘OK’.

Cookies are short pieces of data, sent to your machine by the NBS' web server. They are used to help us identify you while you use the Lifestyle Net service.
When you log in to Lifestyle Net the site sends your browser a memory based cookie. This cookie only exists in your computers memory as is not written to hard disk. (The only exception is if you have specifically told your machine to write memory based cookies to the hard drive). When you close your browser the cookie in memory is destroyed. By using a cookie, you only have to log in to Lifestyle Net at the start of your session. The data in the cookie is then used to validate you for every web page you request. This ensures that only you can look at your data. We do not use cookies for any other reason than to ensure once you have logged in, you are the only user who can view your data.
No, with most browsers you can simply use the "Trusted Sites" option under the security settings tab. Trusting allows you to specify on or more specific web sites rather than turning on cookies for all sites. This will only allow Lifestyle Net to send you a cookie, whilst preventing other sites from doing so.
