NBS personal banking clients
Very soon after we retired, we moved our banking to NBS. They basically did it for us, it was very simple.
NBS is the principal sponsor of our beloved golf club, and when Peter became president of the club and took on those responsibilities, we quickly became aware of the support coming the club’s way from NBS, especially around the annual club tournament. As a result of this support, we wanted to reciprocate.
We see these things going hand-in-hand so we moved our personal banking to NBS and set up personal accounts and term investments with them alongside the personal banking services required for the golf club. We’d been so impressed, we were confident that it would be a worthwhile move and it certainly turned out to be. And we weren’t the only ones. Many other members of the Motueka Golf Club have since moved over to NBS.
We retired to Motueka, where our two sons live, 15 years ago. We are keen golfers, active lovers of the outdoors and relish time with our grandchildren. Joining the golf club when we first arrived not only helped us make connections within the tight-knit community but also led us to becoming clients with NBS ourselves.
We’ve developed some fantastic connections with NBS staff over the 13 or 14 years we have been with them, especially with Howie Timms and the friendly in-branch staff.
It’s not a faceless organisation, you are dealing with people you know. They live in your community.
We have always been so blown away by the teller staff’s generosity and friendliness, every time we set foot in the branch there’s a smile for us. We feel welcome. They are so helpful and know us by name. That’s important in a small town. We often see familiar faces from NBS while out and about dog-walking and, even then, we are greeted with a friendly smile.
We love the way NBS supports the community. That focus on the wellbeing of the community and the wide mix of organisations and causes that NBS supports is really important and it is great that this support is not overly weighted to one area. There’s a nice balanced portfolio in terms of who and what they support. It’s tough out there for people, especially lately, and NBS helps people from all different walks of life. That relationship with Nelson Tasman Hospice and the rescue helicopter really appeals to us. This is what sets NBS apart from large banks and a huge reason we feel proud to be NBS clients – we know we are part of that team, to be part of something bigger that is helping people who need it most.
Banking for life means they understand you as an individual but at the same time, they are also aware of and supporting the other people that are in your life.
NBS walks the walk and talks the talk when it comes to banking for life – that shows in the support our family has been shown over the generations, starting with us and now with our children and grandchildren.
They know our family and it’s great to have that support across all of life’s stages. NBS can take that more flexible and broader approach across a whole family, rather than just the individual, and we saw this demonstrated in action when our son secured a mortgage. The proposal was not a straightforward one, but NBS made it easy.
That helpfulness and flexibility is what keeps people coming back. NBS has been a part of the community for a very long time and has stuck in there in these small communities long after the national banks have closed up shop. That loyalty and longevity is something to respect.
We are incredibly grateful for the support they have and continue to give us over the years.
