Local young people in Tasman are continuing to gain life-changing outdoor experiences thanks to an ongoing decade-long partnership between NBS and Whenua Iti Outdoors.
As Whenua Iti Outdoors marks 40 years of experiential education in 2026, NBS is highlighting its continued backing of the organisation.
NBS reinvests a significant share of its profits back into community initiatives. That funding helps remove financial barriers for local tamariki, whānau, and schools across the region.
Last year, support from NBS enabled 46 students from Motueka High School and Upper Moutere School to attend outdoor programmes. A similar number of local students are set to benefit again this year.
NBS chief transformation officer Jake Bromwich recently visited the Upper Moutere base to tackle the high ropes course alongside Whenua Iti Outdoors chief executive Mark Bruce-Miller.
Bromwich noted that overcoming those tricky physical obstacles builds the exact sense of achievement and self-belief young people need when navigating life's challenges.
Upper Moutere School Principal Heidi Olykan praised the funding, noting that the school could not have offered these opportunities to its tamariki without the support of NBS.
With long-term community support, Whenua Iti Outdoors continues to ensure cost is not a barrier for local youth.
